  • HOW TO PREAPRE

    1. Export every track as a separate stereo or mono WAV, 24-bit, all starting at bar one and running the full length.
    2. Keep the sample rate the same across all files. If your project runs at 48 kHz, export at 48 kHz.
    3. Leave headroom on every track and make sure nothing clips.
    4. Keep the effects that define your sound printed on the tracks, like sidechain, filter automation or a signature distortion. Take any limiter or bus processing off your master channel.
    5. Label your tracks clearly and group them in a logical way. Twelve separate hi-hat channels count as twelve tracks, so bounce together what belongs together.
    6. Add one or two reference tracks so we aim at the same sound.
    7. Not sure how many tracks you have? Message me first and I confirm your tier before you pay.

  • FAQ

    Is mastering really included?

Yes. Every mix comes back mastered and ready to release. You do not book mastering separately for a track you mix here.

How do I count my tracks?

Count the separate channels you send me, after logical grouping. A drum bus you print as one stereo file counts as one track. A drum kit you send as twelve separate channels counts as twelve. Group what belongs together and you often land in a lower tier. If you sit close to a boundary or you are not sure, message me first.

What if my project has more than 64 tracks?

Then it needs a quick quote. Book the free call or send a message with your track count, and I give you a fixed price before you commit. The same goes for an EP or an album, where the price per track comes down.

How many revisions do I get?

Two rounds on the mix. A revision means changes to balance, levels, EQ or automation. It is not a full re-mix from scratch.

Do you do multi-target mastering here too?

Yes. The master is included, and if your track goes to very different systems like club, streaming and vinyl, I can make a dedicated version for each. Mention it in your order note and I get back to you to line it up.

Do you understand my kind of low-end?

Yes. This is electronic music first, and mixing is where I spend most of my time. I design kick drums from scratch, so I know how to make room for a kick and sub without the mix turning muddy or thin. On the QX3 I hear masking and depth problems that stay hidden on normal monitors.

    Remote or in the studio?

Remote, worldwide. The QX3 room is in the Basel area.

KYBERNETIK.LAB is an electronic music studio in the Basel area, in Münchenstein, built for electronic music from the ground up. Everything that carries the name is made by Joel Hostettler, Dipl. Audio Ing., and developed on the Lambda Labs QX3, a horn-loaded reference system that reveals what normal monitors hide. That is the standard behind every product here, from services to sounds to tools: real precision, and a result that holds up on the systems your music is actually played on.
